IN-FORM COLUMBIA IS BIG TEST FOR SUPER EAGLES – Amokachi
Super Eagles Assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has assured that despite the withdrawal of key players, the friendly against Columbia presents a massive test for the Super Eagles players.
“Da Bull” told Vandykesport.com that “we will try new players from the Olympics. This is a higher level and Columbia is top quality opposition currently riding high in the South American World Cup qualifiers.”
He also expressed delight about the recent form of most of the Super Eagles players stating that “No doubt, the good thing is that they are in form. I think we are especially happy that Obafemi Martins is scoring. He’s fit and well again.
“In the defence, players like Adeleye and Apam should get their chance,” he posited, adding that “these young players have done well playing for their clubs and the Olympic team but now this is the senior team; they need these games to mature.”
Daniel also had word for the home based players who he said have a tall order breaking into the Super Eagles, “No disrespect, but they are being groomed for a different time. We don’t have to be naïve or sentimental and we will keep them on the right track. You never know who will get a chance,” he said. |
