Phenix out, Energie moves on
Ivorien flag bearers at the ongoing FIBA Africa Zone 3 qualifiers in Lagos, Phenix have been eliminated from the race for a place in the FIBA Africa Champions Cup finals in Tunisia next month.
Phenix which competed in Group B alongside with the Nigeria’s champion, Kano Pillars, ASPAC of Benin Republic and Racing Club of Togo, lost its opener 58 – 73 points to Pillars, beat Racing 78 -61 points in their second match.
However, the third match against ASPAC proved disastrous as they went down 52 – 57 thereby ending any dream of picking one of the two slots meant for the zone.
Swallows of Togo competing in Group A with host Union Bank, Energie and Pythons on Thursday picked the first semi final ticket having won 72 – 68 points against Pythons; lost 68 – 75 points to Union Bank and another win over Energie 72 – 54 points.
