Ndanusa raises hope in NPC
Expectation is high in the Nigeria Paralympic Committee (NPC) family formerly the Special Sports Federation of Nigeria (SSFN) that the new Sports Minister, Engr. Sani Ndanusa would be the messiah that will lift the fortune of the sports to an all time high.
Expressing this high hope in a telephone chat with www.vandykesport.com on Friday the president of NPC, Prof. Bola Adeyanju said having worked closely with the number one sports citizen at the federations’ level she has every reason to be hopeful that the nation’s sports will witness a positive turn around during his tenure.
“I expect better things in 2009 not only in the sports for the disabled athletes but other sports given the enviable credentials of the sports minister.
“He is one of us and as boss of the tennis federation we have interacted closely, that singularly gives me the confidence to see him as the ‘Daniel’ that has come to judgment. Our sports will surely take a leap for the better.”
The Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria don who said her tenure has given the sports for the disabled athletes a sound footing hinted that the raw talents discovered at the last NPC championship in Ibadan will be groom to take over from the aging athletes.
“We ended 2008 on a hopeful note; a lot of new athletes were discovered at our championship that took place at the Liberty stadium, Ibadan.
“What needs to be done is to further nurture them, definitely they are the future champions and the ones that will replace the aging ones,” she said.
