Iris Smart Technologies CCC league
Pioneers over power Lagos Asian club

Pioneers Cricket Club of Lagos were impressive at the weekend when they handed a 6-wicket defeat to Lagos Asians cricket club in the Iris Smart Technologies CCC League.
Inspired by the presence of their coach, Olisa Egwatu, the man they call Paserella, the Pioneers did not give the Asians any chance to operate.
The Lagos Asians batted first and managed a conservative score of 146 runs all out in 37.3 overs. The match played at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval on Sunday saw a considerable crowd.
Chiran Shamdassani was the star batsman for the Asians with 34 runs. He was supported by Ricky Shamra, 28 and Novin Kewalrani, 16. Jay Gosalker who was expected to put up a credible performance was a huge disappointment as he was bowled out without scoring a single run.
Bowling for Pioneers, Tamuno John and Taiwo Bakare took three wickets eaxh while Lekan Awolowo took two.
In the second inning, Jay Gosalker who was bowled out when the Asians were at the receiving end caused a scare when he faced Joseph Eshua. Eshua, a dependable opening bowler for Pioneer was caught from behind off a Jay Gosalker's ball. It was the first ball in the first over.
Eshua confessed after the match which they went ahead to win by six wickets that the ball came off the seam so fast that he did not see it.
"It could happen to anybody," he said in self consolation, adding that he was just unlucky.
Three other wickets fell before Pioneers achieved their target of 147 for the loss of four in 28.2 overs.
