I’m driven to victory by three d’s - Nwikinawa


Still relishing Tuesday’s heartwarming 4 – 2 demolition of its quarter final opponent – Gokana at the ongoing 2009 Rivers State Governor’s Cup in Port-Harcourt being sponsored by oil giant, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Coach of Khana Rowland Nwikinawa has said his success is anchored on drive, determination and desire to lift the coveted trophy.
Nwikinawa who came from 1 – 0 down to achieve 4 – 2 victory through the boots of Happy Nekabari, Nwigbinawa Goteh and Adokiye Besor said they are returning to their base to strengthen preparation for its semi final clash next Tuesday.
“Hard work and God’s grace gave us victory, God told me that we are going to lift the trophy, and today’s (Tuesday) victory is a further confirmation that the trophy will be ours at the end of the day.
“My strongest point is drive, determination and desire to lift the cup; you can call it the triple d’s.”
Describing their quarter final foes – Gokana as their toughest opponent so far, Nwikinawa said his desire is to play good football and win subsequent matches.
“I an not scared of who I play in the semi final, this match against Gokana remains the toughest for now, my desire now is to play good football, win the semi final match and win the final,” he said.
His opposite number, Tiger Dugbor admitted that Khana lads were better while he prayed for their successes in future matches.
“Khana was better, they played total football and I wish them well. My midfielders failed me, the midfield was porous, the better side won,” he said.
In the other quarter final match, Tai defeated title holders, Onelga 2 – 1. Tai’s goals came through Ossy Miniru and Solomon Williams, while Udomina Udo scored an own goal to give Onelga a consolation.
En route to the semi final, Khana drew 0 – 0 defeated Etche 3 – 1 before the quarter final victory over Gokana, while Tai walloped Andoni 4 – 1 and drew goalless with Gokana.
