Rwanda 2009 AYC
Sporting Lisbon keep tab on Ibrahim

Sporting Lisbon are keeping close eye on young Nigerian midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim as he plays in the 16th African Youth Championship (AYC) in Rwanda.
Officials of Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon are due in Kigali, Rwanda, to follow the progress of Nigerian midfielder Ibrahim in the African Youth Championship, which begins on Sunday.
A source close to the Sporting player said a director of his Portuguese club as well as a medical team will depart Lisbon on Friday to arrive the following day in time for the kick-off of the U-20 tournament.
"It really shows how much they value the player," the source said.
"Last season, they were very unhappy when he suffered a groin injury and needed surgery. That may explain why they are going to Rwanda with a medical team."
Play-maker Ibrahim is expected to inspire favourite Nigeria to win their sixth AYC title. He was part of the country's team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Korea two years ago.
Nigeria's Flying Eagles are pitched against Egypt, Ivory Coast and South Africa in the first round of the Africa Youth Championship.
