Tokyo 2016’s bid takes to the air
Tokyo 2016's Bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games reached for the skies as Official Bid Partners, All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL), unveiled Tokyo 2016 branded planes.
The domestic bound planes are branded with the Bid's official 'Musubi' logo - a traditional Japanese knot symbolising the Bid's commitment to unite youth with sport, old and new Japan, heritage and innovation, the Games with city life and Green with 2016. The branded planes will share Tokyo 2016's 'Musubi Promise' with more than 60 million travellers who transit through Asia's busiest transport hub each year.
Chairman and CEO of Tokyo 2016, Dr Ichiro Kono, said: "I am delighted that we are able to tell our story to new audiences with the launch of Tokyo 2016 branded planes. The 'Musubi' logo is much more than a brand: it captures the very essence of the Tokyo 2016 Games Plan, which aims to inspire people around the world by sharing the values of sport and the Olympic Movement".
